Having visited a few times and stayed in several locations, we can provide practical tips for your visit to Slovenia’s natural wonder. In this post we have included different accommodation options for different price ranges within the surrounding area, as well as some camping and eco friendly options for your stay near Lake Bled.
Where to stay in Bled Town
Right next to the lake, is the town of Bled. It is a small town, quiet off season but thriving during the summer months. From most places in the town, you can reach the lake and the castle easily on foot. This makes the town a fantastic place to stay when visiting Lake Bled.
Lake Bled Accommodation – Budget
Planning to stay near Lake Bled on a budget? We have got you covered! Despite being a popular European hotspot, Slovenia is not an expensive destination.
Our top pick of the best budget accommodations in Bled would have to be Rudi Hiti’s Guest House. Located about 1km out of the town of Bled, the accommodation is great value and even provides free bikes to use during your stay!
Lake Bled Accommodation – Mid Range
If you are looking for something at a reasonable price, there are loads of options when staying near Lake Bled.
Hotel Starkl has a beautiful beachfront location and is not too far from the town. It is a great compromise between price and quality and is a small family run property with a nice vibe.
Lake Bled Accommodation – Luxury
Luxury accommodation is a great idea if you feel like splashing out. Especially if you plan to do some long hikes in the area.
We would recommend Adora Luxury Hotel for its beautiful décor, stunning views and old world charm. It is also really central to the town of Bled and just 2 minutes from the Lake.
Lake Bled Accommodation – Eco and Out of Town
Spending time in nature can be relaxing and energising. If you really want to immerse yourself in the beautiful, natural surroundings, you could try staying at an eco-lodge when visiting Lake Bled. Or perhaps a remote cabin is the best place for you to unwind. Check these recommendations out!
Tourist farm Anž’k is 5km from Bled and surrounded by green pastures. This is a great place to unwind and enjoy some from country air.
For another sustainable farm stay option, try Pr’Jernejc Agroturism. They are situated near Lesce and have loads of great amenities.
Camping by Lake Bled
Camping is a really fun activity when staying near Lake Bled. There are even a few campsites right on the waterfront! It is fantastic to feel close to nature in such a beautiful location. Just keep in mind that the weather can be very hot in the summer and temperatures can dip well below freezing over winter nights, so pack the appropriate equipment for the time of year that you visit. Here are some of the best campsites to consider when choosing where to stay near Lake Bled.
Camping Bled is an eco camp of the highest category located right on the shore of Lake Bled. There are plenty of activities to try here with really great facilities and prices start from as low as €30 per night in the off season.
For something a little more remote, try Kamp Koren. This eco friendly campsite offers chalets, glamping, caravan berths and tent pitches. You can also hire equipment and organise transfers to and from the site.
Other Towns Near Lake Bled
There are a few other towns near Lake Bled that still have good access to the lake while being a little quieter. We have stayed in Lesce before. It is super close to the Lake and you can easily catch a bus that will take you into the town of Bled in about 10 minutes then there is a 5 minute walk from the Lake. There is not much in Lesce itself. However, we found a few nice restaurants to try out. Gostilnica in pizzerija Leščan was great for a hearty meal and views of the mountains. Being that little bit further away from the lake, the town of Lesce is much quieter than Bled.
Chalet Sejalec is an awesome little house in Lesce. It sleeps 5, is super cosy and offers parking and bike hire!
Most accomodtions in Lesce are small chalets or B&Bs. If you are looking for a larger hotel, try Hotel Krek.
If you are looking for a hotel/B&B rather than a chalet, we stayed in Hisa Linhart and loved it. It is really close to the train station and includes a great breakfast.
Radovljica is the next town south of Lesce. It is also really handy for visiting the Lake. The same bus that travels through Lesce, also collects passengers from Radovljica. You can be in Bled in under 15 minutes! Radovljica is another small town but we found nice places to eat and get coffee. We would recommend stopping at Linhart Hotel for some high quality cuisine and, if you’re looking for a coffee, Academia is in a beautifully quiet spot. It is also a bar if you fancy a drink later on.
Art House Radovljica is a fabulous place to stay. It is a beautifully renovated traditional house with gallons of charm!
We stayed in Hisa Linhart and loved it. It is really close to the train station and includes a great breakfast.
Both of these little towns can be reached by train from Ljubljana in around an hour.

After Deciding Where to Stay, Learn a Few Slovenian Words
We have heard many variations on the pronunciation of the city of Ljubljana, not very many of them correct! “J”s in Slovenian are pronounced as “Y”s in English, therefore Ljubljana is pronounced as lyoo-BLYAH-nah
When you visit Slovenia, learn a bit of the language. Slovenian is not an easy language to learn. But any attempt is greatly appreciated by locals. Here are a few words to get you started –
English | Slovenian | Sounds Like |
Hello | Živjo/Zdravo | ZHEE-vyoh/ZDRAH-voh |
Goodbye | Nasvidenje | nahs-VEE-deh-nyeh |
Please | Prosim | PROH-sihm |
Thank you | Hvala | HVAA-lah |
Yes | Da | Dah |
No | Ne | Neh |
Overall, we absolutely love visiting lakes, castles and nature, and this lake was no exception. It was slightly different to how we had imagined but beautiful non the less. With this guide, we hope to make your fist visit to Lake Bled unforgettable!
